It depends what year we are talking.... it started out as an option package, and has moved to a full trim level. The essential upgrades are now in trim are limited slip, different dash trim and upholstery, wheel lip mouldings, bed sticker, stiffer valved shocks, some skid plating, and I think a higher end rim package standard.... and more aggressive tires.

My 2005 FX4 XL just came the posi rear end, Rancho branded shocks and skid plates on the fuel tank and transfer case.
