Hello all, I have been browsing through many a thread on this site and I have ran across numerous comments concerning the Dual Tanks. I had a '93 F-150 XL with the 300 I-6 and auto w/OD and it had a recall for the tank problem. I had to use the rear tank first because the front tank pushed roughly 8 gallons back there per fill up. Now I have a '97 F-250 HD XLT 4x4 O/R with the 460 and 5 Spd and it does it the exact opposite. I have to run the front tank first because the rear tank pushes roughly 3-5 gallons over per fill up. But there is no recall on this model. Is there something that can be done about this or is it just one of those things we as Ford Lovers have to deal with?

I've ran a few cans of seafoam through my tranks along with pre gas and it seems to have corrected my cross flow issue. I used to flow about 1/4 of the front tank into the rear. So far its been roughly 8 tanks and the rear is still bone dry! I know this becuase the truck dies when i switch to the rear like its out of gas. The rear tank does work.
Edit: I'm not saying that this will work for you but it seems to have worked for me so who knows.
[I]I mean it can't get any worse, right???[/I haven't uttered that question aloud since the 92' Riots. Anyway, even if it doesn't fix your primary problem, your injectors will be clean, combustion chamber surface deposits will be greatly reduced, Improved Idle & acceleration! Seafoam. Good stuff! `
they started putting these check valves into the fuel pumps. when a check valve is performing correctly it keeps vaccum pressure from sucking throguh the other line. one of your fuel pumps is clearly out and you can buy inline check valves to be installed on the actual fuel line. just went through this with my 95 150 i6
please tell me more about these check valves. I got a 87 with dual tanks, do I have these if not should I get some I haven't noticed a problem but I'd like to avoid them.
EPNCSU2006,,,quaddriver and suzuki0702 are right. Mine does the same thing,I'm going to replace the FDM in the tank. You have a case of what I call.....
"The FUEL FAIRY that suddenly fills you low or empty tank " OR "The FUEL B**CH OVERFLOWS your already full tank......

That is how I found the problem on this truck, I filled both tanks and was running on the rear tank. When I got home I smelled gas, found it leaking out the front tank. Now I just always start with the front tank.
