1979 F-250 parts question

I'm not much of a mechanic, but I have a 79' F-250 with a 1977 Lincoln Mark V engine. How much of a difference is there between the Ford 460 and the Lincoln 460? I want to replace spark plugs and some other minor maintenance on it, but the Haynes manuals don't talk about the lincoln 460 obviously. How do I find parts specific to this engine? Are there any manuals that talk about it? Can I use parts from a ford 460? Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the site:
Ford manufactured all 460 engines, and the Lincoln brand should not confuse you.

Ben; good info, and great assist.
Rep given!

Another question about the Carb

My carburetor is giving me trouble. Its a rebuilt stock carb that I believe is 300CFM. Is it damaging to the engine to put a new 600 on there?

I could see no possibility of damage. You will pick up some much needed power from this upgrade.
Do you happen to know which heads you vehicle has?
Some castings number will start to become important as you research and start to look for upgrades to your 385 series engine.
Head casting numbers can be found just below the valve cover rail, and just above the center exhaust ports.
This might also be a real nice time to ditch the old antique cast iron manifold, and install a new aluminum intake. Again, some performance, and the great looks of this modification can easilly be obtained.
This upgrade can be done without disturbing the distributor timing, and can be done in a simple afternoon.
Just something to consider....
