I'm needing new tires and feel motivated to upgrade to a better looking/fitting set of wheels at the same time for my '05 crew cab SD. I currently run 33" 17s (Nitto Grappler 295/70/17) on the factory 17" wheels.
I'd like to move up to a 35" tire and don't feel that squeezing this onto the factory 17" wheel is the right answer.
Here's my wish list...
No lift required...I might put on a leveling kit if really needed.
I don't what the wheels to stick out a bunch & don't want any rubbing (truck is used mainly for towing a race car trailer)
I prefer a polished look...not big on colored wheels and would rather not have chrome
I have the factory 20's on my F-350 and think they look great...
What size of tire do you run? Is there a 35" tire that fits properly on that rim? For some reason, I thought that the 20s were only 1/2" wider than my 17s.
Honestly, I'm not too worried about cost - I'm used to paying about $1000/wheel for my cars so almost everything I've seen so far feels much less expensive. The one wheel that has me a bit interested is the Billet Specialties Hauler Series which are about $600/wheel in a 20". My view is that I'm going to have these wheels for quite awhile & they'll give me a lot of enjoyment.
