Dennis Carpenter sells new door pins for these old girls. I got a set from him for my truck. Parts # B-7022840 My catalog is quite outdated fromthe late 80's. The pins then cost a $1.50 ea.then.
They did not come with bushings. The doors were pin against metal. So your door hinge maybe wore and need to be reemed ourt for you to put a bushing in for anew pin.
The pins tend to wear beforethe doors hinge. Made of asofter metal.
Macs truck parts may have pins also. As I said the pins more than anything wore before the hinges.
Yeah, my '03 Carpenter book listed only the pins and attaching bolts, but I didn't think it would be that simple. (?!) The door drops off the latch by less than a 1/8" when opened and closing, it's definitely out of alignment.
It sounds like it needs to be honed out for a brass bushing to be put in for the new pins. This will help straighten it out. My door the pins were wore into.
Where to get bushings from I do not know, maybe Macs.
Thelater vans and vehicles in the 70's had bushings added to help lessen the wear.
It still happens, but less frequently.
I recently purchased new door hinges from green supply.made from much thicker stock than my original hinges.they can be ground down to size local econo pickup guru told me they were van hinges not pickup.dont see where that would make a difference butjust passing on info.
61eline,
Yeah, it really doesn't make sense Ford would make two different hinge sets for the E's. Especially in that era of manufacturing. Did you contact Green about the fitment issue?
Thanks for the input!

Pickup hinges are exactly the same as van hinges.
Tell you Econoline "guru" to get himself a parts catalog and look 'em up.
If they were different, I would have said so in post #5.
The hinges Green Sales sells are originals, as no one reproduces these parts.
The upper hinge is a right side, you need to reverse the hinge pin when using this hinge on the left side.
The instructions that say to do this have been in place since 1961, as Ford never sold a left upper hinge.

Bill, I finally bought me a cd from hipoparts for my 1975 F-250 Hi-Boy, now I will be able to find some parts by myself. I don't know if they know you are not, but I told them you recommended them.
Thanks for the info ND,The hinges were definately original didnt come with pin reversal direction but that wasnt to hard to figure out.Im not sure why they the hinges were thicker but I had to grind them down to get them to fit hinge slot in door Mick
I replaced pins in a couple doors, they were pretty frozen but sprayed penetrating fluid for a couple days then punched them out, now they're just right.
