Value?

Value?
So while diagnosing a bent drive shaft, I have received a file on my truck, a 1963 f-100 2wd. Apparently the second owner bought it in 1965 and used it as a farm truck in Arkansas. Between '94 and '96 he completely restored the vehicle completely. Two years ago he gave it to my brother, who just gave it to me. Now as 4th owner, I have all of the receipts for the restore, including a copy of the origional title, and title change. I also have the origional warranty information. As for restorations now? I need a drive shaft, and a paint job. That's it.
Any ideas as to what the value for a truck like this might be? would it be more valuable as a collectors or with upgrades like seatbelts, disc brakes, and the like?
thanks,
jay
oh... it only has 138,500 origional miles....

Joe, I believe Dwight aka ddavid has info that would be helpful to you.
That is usually a highly inflated number. The higher the number that someone sets the bigger the chest swells. Watch shows like Barrett Jackson and you might think any ol shined up truck could be worth a lot of money.
You don't see 60s Ford trucks on their show so let that speak to you. Change Value to worth, the truck will only be worth what someone will pay you for it should you decide to sell it.
Another that I have heard many times, I have been offered $******* for it, yeah right. I have seen folk try to sell those vehicles later and after a couple years of no buyers, let it go for much less than what they were led to believe it was worth.
I'd say with the economy the way it is right now, you would be lucky to get it to $5,000.00. but what do I know??

ddavidv's link is very helpful; also, several 61-66 Ford pickups on ebay which may give some indication. Occasionally member will post ebay links to pickups that are of interest, it may be difficult to run an FTE search because they could be listed under a number of unrelated titles. See them on ebay run anywhere from $250 to $26,000, that's if seller can get buyer to meet his asking price. If not urgent, would wait, don't believe it's a sellers market for pickups, or anything for that matter.

I think it is as they say, there worth what ever the traffic will bear. I have had many cars and trucks over the years. It seems that the ones that I thought would bring the least brought the most. And the ones that I thought were really worth something did not bring as much. I always start high, you can always come down on the price. It is pretty tough to go up. I know the one I have now, I will probably never be able to get what I have in it let alone any labor. So I guess I will just have to keep it and drive it until it drops or I do. Which ever comes first.

John, not certain how many seller's got their reserve price, if you recall, there were a few within the past 6 months, or so, where member(s) posted link to the ebay 61-66 auction with comments and quesstimates what the final selling price would be. Have not seen the 'high end' Ford truck auction lately but remember posting comment how ebay was beginning to appear like a Barratt-Jackson auction. Did not really track the final outcome except for a couple that peaked my interest, 1 in particular where the bid got to $22,000, plus change, but the seller's reserve price was above $24,00. Have not seen simular auction lately, likely won't for some time with current market situation, nows the time to buy.
