Thank you brentleedragon Its joe from new jersey. That would be greatly appreciated I will send you money for your effort just let me know how much. my truck is a 2 wheel drive xlt. doing a restoration. Its greatly appreciated I just got burned for 200.00 dollars on a wire harness from (73 to 79 ford truck parts supplier) please try to get the word out this guy is bad paper. dont buy a thing from him he does only electronic money transfers. he has his own web site. He said he had one for a 1977 ford an I went for it like an idiot! Oh well we learn from our mistakes( thanks again joe)
You shouldn't need the whole underdash main harness.
Just the Factory A/C harness for a 1975-1977 to plug into your existing main harness you have now. That and the safety relay, is all you should need.
That is of course if you have the other stuff like the factory controller and switches, and vacuum lines, and all the other a/c components off the 1979 you mentioned earlier.
That and also unless your main harness is shot in your truck now.
If this is all I need it would be great my harness is in good shape where would this plug into. are the connectors for the factory ac controller from a 1979 the same as the 1977 wire harness I have now for the fan switch plug.

This is where the factory wiring diagram comes in really handy. The heater wiring harness on your truck right now, unplugs from your factory main harness at connector #606. Wire color is Orange. This connector is located behind the dash between the heater blower switch plug and the fuse panel. This is the only wire hooked to your main harness. Anything after connector #606 can be removed as a seperate harness. Essentially you will remove your existing heater harness at connector #606, and plugging in the A/C harness in it's place. All of the wiring differences happen after this main feed wire on the truck. When you get a heater and a/c harness out of a donor truck it will plug into your main harness at connector #606. Then the different wires will split off from there. The safety relay is attached to the firewall and the a/c harness has all the provisions to hook up everything you need. Did I make this clear enough? Sounds complicated but it's really simple.
EDIT:
Think of it like a Family Tree.
The Orange wire at Connector #606 is the Great Grandfather Main wire.
All the other wires split off from this wire from the various family groups. Orange wire, "Great grandfather", goes to Heater blower, which splits several wires from the switch, "Children of the orange wire" to other components, which has more wires split off.
You are essentially switching one family tree, "Heater only Harness" from the "Great Grandfather" orange wire, and attaching another different family, "A/C harness" to "great grandfather" Orange wire.
yes that makes it a little easier for me thanks for your time what a great forum so much knowledge thanks for the time and effort (joe from new jersey).
Hi bud its joe from new jersey If an when you go to the salvage yard see if also you could pickup a safety relay it mounts on the firewall benind the motor it is a must for my ac system so Im told. 81-f-150-explorer told me about this relay so my thanks again to all you great ford men on this forum for helping out. Joe I charge $20 a minute ahaha no but really, its no problem for me to go and do it. I am going to be up there anyhow. I'll let you know how much the part is and the shipping. If anything I think the harness is like 9 bucks ? I dont even remember.
Yeah I did go out there on friday after work. I didnt find any harnesses that I would even remotely call decent lol. But the lady told me that they're going to be bringing in about 4 more trucks like ares in the next weeks or so, so I can get to them first hopefully lol
