I have an early ’99 F-250, 4X4 (extended cab) Super Duty, 7.3 ltr, Power Stroke. Recently I lost all the power steering fluid from the upper fitting on my pump. I could see the precise location of the leak which came from around the line where the upper fitting attaches to the pump (left side). My question is there a seal at this juncture and can anyone direct me to a break away drawing of this pump?
The leak, which was clearly visible at the back side of the fitting along the line, progressed over a couple of days until the system became drained. The cause, I believe is from the changes I recently made. I have added some adaptors (on all four wheels) for attaching duals to my truck both front and back. However the tires which are on mounted on the front wheels (Wheels by Weld Racing) were badly and unevenly worn, producing a shimmy. Before I had been able to purchase a new set of tires, my fears of damage to the front end (in the form of the lines to the pump for power steering/breaks, etc.) materialized in what I believe to be that o-ring you suggest. Thank you for confirming my ideas! I will tear this down when I get home and replace the o-ring (as well as the tires!)!!
