I have heard that the factory installed Firestone Steeltec 235/85R16E AT's are not so good. I would like to replace them larger better performing / looking tire. In Fla. there is tire shop called "Good Roads" that will buy back new tires with less than 100 miles. So here's the Q's: 1.How large a tire (MAX SIZE) can I replace them with considering the duals spacing? 2. Once the size issue is clear, what brands should I consider? ( I consider my self a mature age 52 with occational flashbacks of age 25. I will be mostly a road warrior with an occational dirt/mudd party. I will potentionally haul a 13,000 lb boat [200 to 1000 miles] up to 5X per year)
Really need your opinions... my heads a spinnin'... THANKS
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-10-03 AT 11:30 PM (EST)]I think 255/85/16 would be the max. As for brands some guys like BFG MTs and Michelin. When you look at tires don't only look at the D or E load rating but also look at how many lbs that they can handle, many times it's not a big difference between the two.
