I saw your query in the introduction forum. I'm up near Whangarei.
It might not be as easy as just re-springing to meet Land Transport requirements.
The rating that they work off is based on the manufacturer's spec's.
So if Ford's GVM (GVWR) specified for the truck on the door-frame sticker is over 3500kg (7700 lb), you still are in the heavy vehicle class, regardless of what springs or rear axle you fit.
I brought an F250 LD (3310 kg GVM) over from California a few months ago, & in the process heard of several people bringing in F250 HD's (the heavier rear axle puts the GVM up into the COF class), unaware that the higher GVM was going to force them into a RHD conversion.
I was told that there are conversion kits available, but I don't know prices - I've heard that a professional conversion - labour, parts etc is around $18,000 - insane cost
