got my tuner...
finally came today. loaded the performance tune and went for a short spin... definately feel the firmer shifts, drive by wire feel is lessened considerably. i didn't play too much as i got a fair amount of weight in the box right now...
more to come as i test out the other tunes...

i don't think so... the sales guy didn't say anything about it, nor does the manual say anything about it for gas trucks. i think its more a diesel concern with the turbo's maybe??? good question though... i think i'll specifically ask that Q to someone in the know!!

Sherm, which tuner did you get? Are there many adjustable parameters? The last gas one I had allowed shift points, rev limiter, shift firmness, premium and regular fuel performance programs, and tire size adjustments.

EGT's are a diesel concern - on a gas truck the things to watch for are detonation from too much spark advance via the tuner, especially if you run on regular fuel while in a premium fuel setting.

i got the SCT xcal3 preloaded with 3 tunes, but it has all the adjustability you mentioned. i only got the 3 87 octane tunes for now, see how that goes, then i might order a 93 performance tune after i get the CAI and exhaust.
won't be any video's... the truck doesn't look any different, sound any different, nor will i be doing any smoke shows or other acts of useless insanity...

Bet ya cant wait for exhaust now, just to add to the performance!
Also for the price, thats a nice cheap mod. If it improves your economy at all, then it will eventually pay itself off.

so far, the pick-up is a great improvement, there's no hesitation between shifts. kicking it down to pass someone is instant and 140 comes a heck of a lot quicker than before. i've been trying to drive similar to before for mpg purposes, but i think this tank is a write off 
there'll be some vids when the exhaust comes, but that might be a while... with our dollar **** up, its a hit to buy anything out of the states!!
