I am not a specialist on the topic but my neighbor is a HUGE car stereo guy. He built a black Chevy S10 Extreme into a DB drag champion here in Omaha. Last year he won the championship generating something like 157.3DB for 30 seconds straight. Anyway, he loves the reconditioned batteries that he gets from a local company. Granted he's buying deep cycle batteriees from people he trusts.
Besides, for $25, if it works for a year and dies your really not out much.

What is it they do to "Recondition" these batteries ? drain, flush and refill with Acid ?..

If the plates of the battery are shot.. the battery most likely would very long, let alone have very many Cranking Amp's.

never know, you might get lucky with one of them, it might last the 6 month that they warranty it for.

I don't know, I personally wouldn't buy a used battery for $25. when you can buy a new one at Wallmart for ~ $45 with a 3 year warantee. The agravation of possibly having to deal with a battery that goes dead at an inoportune moment even if it is "waranteed" just to save 20.???
"Reconditioning" likely consists of giving it a fast charge and seeing if it is still holding the charge a few days later.

I was just going to say what AXracer said. $25 for six months warranty on a used battery(Reconditioned)or 3 year free replacement on a new one. Some new ones come with free jump start service aswell.

We've always used the Wal-Mart batteries, and have never had any trouble. They have good prices on some really high cranking amp batteries. I would gladly pay $65 for 1000CCA, or $45 for 850 CCA. $25 for a used battery, no thanks, unless it is a reconditioned battery from a reputable source (Interstate's Work Horse/Work-A-Holic, or whatever it is, line) where they recase them and re build the plates.

I would not go with a rebuilt battery for any price. I usually replace most of my batteries when the warranty expires. My experience is that the battery expires shortly after the warranty. I priced rebuilt 8 volt batteries for my golf cart and they were much more expensivethan new ones at Sams. I don't see much sense in removing batteries and hauling them for a short warranty. Of course they may last as good as new, who knows until you try.

If you go to the boneyard, there is likely to be a near-new battery out of a car/truck that got wrecked. Nothing wrong with one that is verifiably near-new. Also, my son used to work at an AutoZone. People would bring back batteries and swear they were no good, two days after they bought them. The real problem was the charging system, but AZ had a policy of just giving them their money back. A quick charge and these batteries were good as new. Check around!
