I have not been here in a while but this site is awesome. My question is I have a 78 F-150 4x4 with a 351M in it. Itruns good not great but good so...Someone recentely gave me a 79 F-150 with same engine and I think I want to rebuild the engine and stick it into my 78. Since I'm am mechanically inclined but not engine savy I need a kit to do this. What am I looking for if i use the truck for basic off-roading, hunting and towing boat? I don't need hotrod (but i don't want slug either) because I need this truck to last for a while. Any suggestions on how to pick kit so that i get cam and piston set up that will give me what I'm looking for?

Me personally, I rebuilt mine basically back to stock with a few exceptions: First off I went ahead and had the cylinders bored .30 over. I had it line bored and the crank turned. Then I had the heads milled and replaced all of the rocker arms and springs. Basically everything is new.
I went ahead and and put the biggest cam my springs would allow which is a medium sized cam. other than that i put a Wieand stealth intake and a Holly 670 street avenger carb. Oh i also out Hooker Headers. It is plenty of power.
