Can anyone tell me which vendor sells replacement cowl emblem inserts? I've not been able to find any so far. Mine will actually go on my 68 N750, (same cab as a 66). So I'll have to erase the "100" and have a signmaker put 750 on it. Or maybe it would be simpler to get the material, (lexan maybe?) and make them from scratch. By the way, my old ones are not good enough to redo, and one is broken. Thanks.
I've never seen a vendor with anything over 250, but it doesn't mean there isn't a company not producing them. Check with the sites sponsor's like NPD, but that's only one of about 10 different companies out there with parts.
I have resprayed the plastic inersts and put vinyl lettering on some myself...
I would recommend either find some old faded inserts or make them as you mention in your initial post. I've made them out of 1/4" plexglass for my 64 model, I used the metal backing as a template for/ too make the plastic inserts. All the suppliers type are red with Silver / grey lettering; I don't think you could remove the lettering with out stripping the hold coloring off. I have been looking for some twin I beam inserts that the lettering was good and the red coloring faded off and then to paint them off white / almond color on my 65 model, but can't seem to find anyone willing to sell me just old faded twin I beam emblems..
A method has been described to me to do just that, strip everything off and redo just as the original but with different numbers. Michelle C. who has the Ford truck site has done one of her trucks this way.

C3TZ81020A74D .. Ornament-Cowl Side "Ford 750"
Fits: 1963/68 N750 only.
No Ford dealer or obsolete parts seller has any.
While these ornaments may look similar to the type used on the cowls of some 1961/66 F Series trucks, they are not quite the same.
This means the pins on the back side of the other ornaments might not match up to the holes in the cowl of your N Series.
I found the following cowl side ornaments new old stock:
McDonalds Obsolete Parts in Rockport IN has one = 812-359-4965
---------------------------------------------------------------
The following fit 1967/68: B750 & F750
C7TZ16720G .. Ornament-Right Side "Ford 750"
Green Sales has ONE = 800-543-4959
Ed Bennett Ford Parts in Lebanon PA has TWO = 717-272-8762
------------------------------------------------------------- C7TZ16721G .. Ornament-Left Side "Ford 750"
Green Sales Co has ONE.
Ed Bennett has TWO.
I do not know what any of these ornaments look like.
The parts catalog does not show each and every ornament used on specific models (there are over 50 different ones-1961/68), just a few examples only.
If interested, I'd suggest you call the seller(s) and ask for a description.
Bill, Thanks a lot, I think the easiest thing for me to do us make the inserts from scratch, I know a very talented sign maker I think could do it. The rest of the emblem is not perfect, but pretty good. At least I now know they may be different than an F series.
