Tranny Blew

Well at 200,500 miles the tranny finally let go. I was pulling my trailer to work and the overdrive light started flashing. I had it towed the the stealership and they said the code in the tranny was for the overdrive clutch slipping. The service manager (who is a friend) said I would be money and time ahead if I just went ahead and replaced it. I am getting a Ford reman unit with a 3 yr. / 100,000 mile warr. installed for $2,400 out the door. Is that a good deal or not? I thought it was. I also was wondering if you guys have had good luck with the ford remans or not. I would love to get a fully built ATS or something but I am already having to scrape pennies to get this one.

Thanks Seth

It is Cambell Ford in Niles, MI. No, I just quit Atlanta and moved back to Indiana. I just have not been able to change my sig. yet. I miss Atlanta's action but I got a good raise coming back here so no complaints. How are you doing ?

No, a lot slower here, but we have good equipment, nice stations and I am making 10,000 more a year to start off then Atl and another 5,000 in three years, so no complaints. Plus all my family is up here so it is a win win for me. I hope all goes well for ya at College Park. You heard Coons went to Johns Creek right?

Is it a 4wd? If it is 2 wd that is ok price but if it is 4wd that sounds a bit light. I just installed a new transmission with new driveshafts to the tune of $4100+

Mine is 7.3 4wd

Heck of a price.

I've got a Ford reman in mine (~40,000 miles) and no complaints.

It does, but there may be extra Labor $$ to deal with the transfer case.

Mine is a four wheel drive. The guy I know is only charging me cost on the tranny and cutting me a deal on the labor. I am glad to hear that is a good price.

I would recomend that you have the shop doing it install a TransGo Tugger II kit or get a HD performance Valve body, but I just got a Tugger II kit installed!!!! It's awesome!
I would talk to the shop owner about having all stock cooler lines flushed! and replace stock cooler with a TRU COOL 4739(max cooler) install it right at the top of the grill supports behind the grill

email me if you have any issues.
where in IN are you/work?

Great price. A "shift kit", accumulator mod and etc would be a good idea for the 4R100. Unless your using a tuner on the trans.
