Ok i have a 99 f250 super duty the door acctuator on the passenger side has stoped working. I am going to replace it dose anybody have any comments or suggestons on taking it off the truck im kinda stumpep. any help would be greattly appreciated!!!
i have only gotten as far as taking the door panel off and locating the actuator and the locking mecinisim. but i didnt know it was all rivited in there. is that very complecated to drill them out and what size drill do i use?
I undid the rods that connect to the latch assembly, unbolted the door handle and pulled it out (for better access), then removed the torx screws holding the latch to the door. You can then snake the latch assembly (leave the lock cable connected) over in front of the access hole. The actuator has a little plastic locking lever that you pry up and it will slide off the latch assembly. You'll need to unplug the wiring first, and hold it just right to slide past the one of the wiring connection points.
There are 2 rivets that help hold the actuator together. I used a #30 drill bit, which is just a hair larger than 1/8". You could probably get by with a 1/8" bit. Then just pry the thing apart, take apart the motor to get access to the little square thing that needs to be wrapped in foil, and put things back together as outlined in the thread I posted earlier. If you read through the thread there are pictures in there that show you what needs to be done.
If that doesn't make sense, or you have more questions, let me know.
