I'd love one of these with the 4.4 diesel! Hell, even the ecoboost might be acceptable. Doesn't need a lot of HP, but I'd like to see a lot of torque. Kinda reminds me of an International Scout.
See me mates defender in a pic today and it reminded me of it so much. His is blue but here's a couple of others.
My 4 wheelin' buddy had a 1966 Land Rover series 2A. What a cool machine. However, he was a non-driving fool and I'd have to routinely and very competently re-introduce him to the meaning of Ford country! This knuckle head would high center his rig on a rut, then we'd have to walk out and get my Ford. My old faithful '88 drug his a$$ out of the woods every saturday for two years. Now he owns a Land Rover Discovery and an F-150.

My understanding ( I don't remember where I read it..... so take it for what it is worth) is that there is serious discussion of building it. The main catch is that it was proposed to be built on a powertrain that is not out yet. The plan that I heard was that it was to share, and follow by a year or so, the F100 that will be coming out in the near future. If you think about it that would make sense, they will be "about" the same size and would require symilar engines and powertrain.
I like the possibility of an old style Bronco. If it can share a powertrain with a more popular vehicle, I think it could be a good item for Ford. All you would need would be to shorten the frame of a F-100, and put on fresh sheetmetal. Think of it as the Sport trac and Explorer, alone the sport track probably does not sell enough units to pay R&D + manufacturering costs, but by sharing many components, it is well worth Fords time and effort to build. As a stand alone product, I am not sure enough would sell well enough to make the R&D costs + low volume manufacturing costs work out.
I would love to see this produced if Ford would offer it with solid 1/2 ton axles, simple suspension and v8 power. If they stick dopey IFS in it, then they might as well leave it as a concept. As a side note, does anybody remember the baja excursion concept of maybe 02? That would have made an awesome ride. Built on the sd platform. It looked like a 78/9 bronco.
I fell in love with it the first time I seen it at our auto show. But as with all concepts, they either dont get made or when they finally do make it it looks nothing like the cocept at all. IMO, Bill
I remember the articles about this Bronco and it was supposed to have a nitrous oxide boost button located beside the radio that gave the turbo-diesel a 50 hp boost. It probably would have sold if it had came out within a year of the article, but not likely in today's economy.
