Nope! I don't like stickies. I go to some boards where there are a dozen or so of them and they just clutter up the 1st page. And the guys that have questions still ask and they always get their answers. When I find a thread that has usefull info that I might need in the future I just subscribe to the thread and then can always link back to it if the need arises.
I have seen some advantage to the stickies but I do like the interaction better. I would rather discuss peoples options rather than telling them to RTFM. That way if some thing changes like the 10K mod did we will be on top of it with the most current advice.
There are also alot of people that just surf here and don't post. If all they do is read outdated stickys that get to be real long they might get bad info. Without stickys they may be more encouraged to post and interact.
Personally I used to feel intimidated when I was new to a forum because I felt I had "REQUIRED READING" before I could post.
I learn something from this site everyday(Thanks Guys!!!)...I am by no means a Guru here, but try to help as much as I can....and the search function absolutely sucks.
Yea, its even worse when you call me and ask. I drive a petrol truck! hahaha.
[QUOTE=93f1505.0L;6670738]Like when they ask where is the fuel filter. I get excited when I can answer it for them.QUOTE]
Excellent point. That right there is what I believe motivates participation and building on friendships that we have here. I was the same way, when I first started, I was so excited to be able to "answer" questions instead of ask.
I will send our moderator that question......I just want to see how the vote goes for a day or so.I am sure its a go......but dont want to jump the gun.I would need input and links from others to set it up.....so it would need to be a group effort to set up.

I think it was December of 06...FTE came down hard on the stickys. Said "no more", and "too much clutter". To this day you'll have a hard time finding a forum with more than one or two stuck threads. FTE also prefers the personal touch. They would rather have the post volume from the newbs. That being said....we do add them from time to time.
Here's the thing with this particular forum: This is at least the third time the subject has been broached, and each time I have maintained that if somebody will put together a good strong thread with good links that I would stick it.
My personal criteria for such a thread hasn't changed. It can't be a free for all. If it's going to happen I'll need something that can be kept clean without an enormous effort. That means that the only replies to the thread should be to add more linked content. Keep the replies to the threads in the links and not in the stuck thread itself.
Ron since you've taken the lead on this, I'll say go ahead and build it and post it. At the very least we can try it out for a while and see how it's going to work.
