Hi everyone;
I am having some issues with wirring i am thinking??? i turn my lights on everything is fine ... I then turn the heater on all the lights dieout and slowly come back and untill they are back fully (this takes a couple of seconds) i don't have any signal lights or heater fan .... once it comes back the dash lights are dimmer(and if i turn the heater to the off position they are proper again ) if the heater stays on the lights stay dimmer than normal but everything works and once in a while they die then come back ??? any ideas..
I have tried to explain this issue the best i can if any one can help me please ????
PROBLEM 2:
Only other thing i have had happen but this has been gonig on for almost a year now, is once in a while my wipers will not work but if i put the truck in 4x4 then back in two wheel with the wipers on they work fine for a while again
Problem #2 is a fried GEM module usually caused by a leaking windshield. Problem #1 may be part of that as well but to me it seems like a slowly dying altinator(sp). Check the output of the alt at the back of the alt while these conditions are happening and see if you get a significant drop in voltage. Good Luck.
Well now i heard this like shorting out sound under the dash and now i have no signals no heater and no dash lights if the heater is turned on if the heater stays off i have dash lights lol so go figure ..... the gem module maybe??????
You may well have a bad power or ground connection somewhere. If your gauges wiggle while this is going on, I'd say that you certainly do.
Anyway a bad connection can be act like a clogged fuel filter for your electricity. Also, they can sometimes get a little better after an a few seconds.
Maybe you could get a meter on the blower motor resistors and see if the 12 v to them is low. On most vehicles, they're on the firewall, and you can sometimes reach a connection point. If the 12v is nearly the same on both sides of the resistors when the problem occurs, it would point to a bad ground.
But, I don't know anything about the GEM, and if it supplies power to the heater and lights, it could be the issue.
