Dump Bed Notice
Dump Bed Notice
My brother is looking to install a dump bed on his '04 F250, and, while digging around at the various forums for ideas, I came across something that might be of interest to those of you who have installed, or are considering installation of, a dump bed. BE SURE TO INFORM YOUR INSURANCE CARRIER!! From what I've uncovered so far, just about every insurance company views a dump-bed pickup as a dump truck - if you have your truck insured simply as a pickup, then add a dump bed and don't tell them, and an accident occurs, they COULD deny coverage!!
When I checked with our insurance agent, she said:
1. Yes, you DEFINITELY need to tell them.
2. If you have a standard, private-owner policy, the new one will actually cost LESS, since it'll be a commercial policy.
Better to be safe than sorry!!
This was almost as scary as finding out that my various pieces of John-Deere equipment wasn't covered under my homeowner's policy!!

Dump Bed with 5th wheel
Does any body now if I can add a dump bed and use my 5th wheel.
I bought a farm truck its a 94 F250 XLT 7.3 Turbo Diesel Super Cab with a manual tranny. They took off the 5th wheel but the hole is still in the bed and I would like to add a dump feature to my bed. It looks like the reinforment is still under the bed.
Does anybody have any experience with this?

not in New Jeresy.
a commercial policy here is almost twice the cost of a private personal passenger vehicle policy.
