Trans Temp Sensor
1) We know that the 4R75E has a temp sensor built-in that can be read by the Edge Programmer, and other devices. I can see an illustration of it in my service manual, but the manual does not show (or I cannot find) what oil temp this is reading. Is it simply valve body temp, pan oil temp overall or does it read the oil temp of the oil in a particular circuit (such as converter)?
2) I read in the previously-mentioned thread that that some people hook up a temp gauge sender to a test port on the side of the case. Offhand, does anyone know what oil circuit that connects to? I haven't looked that one up in the manual yet, so you could call this a lazy-bones question.
I have been monitoring my trans temps via the Edge and just driving around it's rock steady at 160. That's before and after installing a Mag-Hytec DD pan and Royal Purple synthetic atf. I did note about a 10 degree drop in towing temps over a test course from the pan (190 to 180) after the pan and oil change. It was a very heavy load (loaded grain wagon) towed at low speeds for only about 6 miles.
