Wanted: Trans conversion ideas
The Mazda 3.90 first gear combined with the 4.10 gear and tire and wheel combination now on the truck is a good combination, and I particularly like the gear spread giving me in essence a close-
ratio 4-spd., plus overdrive, excellent for daily driving.
Here's where I need ideas: I want a creeper gear low, a close ratio 4 -spd., and an overdrive--essentially a six-speed.
I know about the NV4500, but that is a creeper low, a three-speed close ratio, and an overdrive.
Is there a close-ratio 5-spd. OD box out there? If so, that would work well with an Advance Adaptors Ranger 2-spd OD box, or, an alternate, a 5-spd. creeper gear trans with a direct high gear with the Ranger 2-spd. in Underdrive configuration.
Ideas, anyone?

I had two '94's, I traded the first one in on the second one. I would never have believed this if I hadn't witnessed it first hand. The first one was an F150 with a 6/5spd and a 3:08 rear end. The gearing was such that immediately after you let the clutch out in 1st you were shifting, and it didn't have a lot of bottom end for getting your load rolling. It was outstanding gearing for empty street driving, and would flat fly. I bought it new and had it for two years. I traded it in on a '94 F250 with a 351/5spd. The two trannys were like night and day. It resembled the truck four speed with overdrive. I dearly loved that transmission. Around town empty I could take off in 2nd, but when I threw my 26' trailer behind it loaded I had 1st to get rolling with,if I needed it. It was great. That's my experience with later model equipment. I still don't think you can beat a truck four speed though. Now if you're still interested I have some other ideas, but they require fabrication.
