When ever I go slowly over speed bumps I can feel like the rear axle is shifting, it feels like a significant moving type of feeling having to do with the rear axle. It's more pronounced when empty. I am wondering if this is telling me I need traction bars . physically everything looks like it should.
Maybe I need someone to drive over the humps as I look from the side of the road to get an idea what is transpiring back there.
Maybe it's me and this is just the nature of the beast.
Anyone else feel this 'rear axle movement' as well?
Could be your over load springs slaping the stops as you go over bumps. I got the same truck as yours and it drove me nuts. I got tired of the noise so i took the overloads out.You dont really need them unless your planning to haul 5000lb around in your box.

I will look into this. Sounds viable, Thanks for the info.
The reason I mentioned this is I travel over humps every day and this "feeling" of something shifting made me wonder if anyone had a fix for it.
Last week I had about a thousand to 1500 pounds in the bed and it really masked it well. Not only that but the truck travels so well with a load on it. I bought it for what it can do, it's just those times when empty that the truck doesn't "feel" right, such is the case with this problem felt. I was hoping that adding traction bars would eliminate the feeling.
Thanks for the info.
I think thats the nature of the beast. Ive heard and talked with other people and they all say that the truck rides better loaded. Wonder being a ton truck with those longer blocks in the rear, if it makes a difference. My brother has a ton job v-10 gasser, when i park my 3/4 next to his you can see the difference in hieght. Even though I got the same spring pack in mine that he has in his. Ill ask him if hes ever noticed that before.
I can't see taking out your overload springs as being a good option. They do more than keep your truck up when theres weight in the bed. It also takes a lot less than 5,000 pounds for them to help significantly.
The "super duty" was designed to haul loads, not to pick up a six pack. It will be a bit uncomfy driving empty but when I hook up my 5ver it rides like a town car.
You might want to look into Landyot Radius Rods. They are designed to prevent axle/spring wrap. Just google Landyot Radius Rods and you will get the whole story. I installed them on my X and it stopped the front end wander due to rear axle/spring wrap and movement. This gives you the details.
