weird question

i was looking for the numbers on my engine today and found E7TE-CA ive looked it up on here and what i have read says that it is a 5.0 HO motor that should use the 351 firing order... now for the odd part i have it set up with the normal 302 firing order and it still runs white smoke comes out from everywhere but it does run

also i pulled the driver side valve cover and the only number i could see on the head is 6D25 and the e7te-ca was on the block on the drivers side by the lowest point where the trans bolts to the motor

any help is appreciated
thnx

There's no way to tell what motor you have from those casting numbers, that only tells you it's from a casting that was first produced in 1987 so you know it's not the trucks original motor. All small block windsor motors can use cams with both HO and non-HO firing orders so that too doesn't tell you anything. If the intake is about 9" wide then you know you have a 302/5.0, but that's about all you'll know for sure without taking it all apart.

If it misses, have you tried the 302 firing order?
