My 88 F150 back passenger side leaks when it rains. The seatbelt gets wet and water is seen on the floor. Where are the possible locations that water could seep through to do this? The gutter seam and the seam of the wall and roof panels looks cracked, could that seep water down to that location? What type of sealant could be used for this?
Thanks for any ideas!
Katt,
I recall a past post where it was discovered it was leaking at the forward cross seam at the gutter above the passenger window. It was leaking downward(obviousely)and dripping at the underside of the dash. My 91 F250 also drips for days, under the lower front of the driver side door, after a washing or a rain, but I havent searched for the problem with any real effort,(with my continued build up of my 91 and an always expanding scope of the Jeep build up,it takes a major failure to move to the front of the project list). I beleive the fix was to remove the inner molding and caulk with silicone rubber. Later,
Jeff
I had an 85' Bronco that was like that and it took me a while to isolate it. I found that ANY type of crack around the rain gutter will cause a leak like you described. The Bronco series from 80-96 are notorious for cracks there caused by the chassis flexing. Ironicaly the rain gutter is the weakest link. What I did to fix it was at the time I was getting ready to put a new paint job on it so I got a wire feed welder and welded it up. A little grinding, some bondo, and a fresh coat of paint and it was good as new. You can also pack the area with sylacone like some of the other repliers suggested. I have since sold my 85 and bought a 95. FORD BABY ALL THE WAY!!
