I have a 96 F150, 2WD. I like to do some off-roading. I realize that I don't have a 4x4 and was wondering how much punishment a truck like this can take or if I should take it off the road at all. I am concerned about the front end and suspension components. Is a 2wd truck tough enough for off the road? Thanks for your help.
My answer is DEFINATELY! :-) Now don't get me wrong, I wouldn't ever recommend rockcrawling or anything too extreme like that, but Ford's are built tough. Example: last weekend my best friend and I went offroad, we went through some very steep inclines, like about 70 degrees. I thought that we'd just stop and spin, but this '95 F150 (4.9) just idled it's way up in second gear, it was truly amazing. We were doing about forty, when we hit a ditch, that nearly rubbed the plastic front spoiler/bumper off this truck, it didn't even slow us down, these trucks are tough.
This truck is not taken care of at all either (unfortunately) It's oil is never changed, it has a spare tire on the front end, it has a toe in problem, and it has a Mazda trans. to top it all off. I'd trust my nicer '82 any day, but he's 17, and I still can't drive with him, until he turns 18, and by that time I will have my license!

PS When I post pics on this site, they will all be offroad, in the most extreme places that I can find! (hard to do in Texas) I will have a whole photo album full of my truck offroad, for all of those people who doubt my truck. ;-)
