parking light issue/headlight switch mod.

I have a problem with my headlight switch. I am installing a keyless system as my 08 came with power locks but not keyless. After hooking it all up not only am I not getting the power locks to work but I can't get my parking lights to turn off. Real weird. I hooked the parking light wire from my remote system to the white/violet wire at the headlight switch. But I think it burned out the switch and thats why my parking lights won't turn off. Now first question is if thats the case where am I suposed to tap into my parking lights so I don't burn out the switch again? Second question is, since I apparently need a new switch can I upgrade to a DRL switch? Is my truck already wired for that so all I would need is the switch? Last question refers back to the power lock issue. Does anyone know what kind of electrical lock system these 08's have? I hear it maybe different depending on whether the truck came with keyless or not. Thanks yall.

There is no DRL switch on the 08's. DRL's are now a function of the SJB which can be turned on or off via a Ford computer, but you will have to have the dealer do this for you...

As far as the wiring goes, from what I am seeing white/violet is "headlamp off". Grey is "parklamp on"...

Ok. Thanks. I toasted the headlight switch so thats why it won't turn off. But I took it apart and soldered the burned connection back together. So it will be fine for the next week or so until I get a new one. So you say it's solid grey? Can you post the diagram you have? The diagram I was using said blue/grey but there was no wire for that. It also says there is a low current wire for the parking lights that is the white/violet. That really does not matter now as I ran the wire into the engine compartment and hooked up directly behind the parking light. Now I just need to figure out the lock and unlock wires.

Unfortunately the schematics I have are not in a postable format.

Anyway, I am showing solid grey for the parking lamps... Violet/Green is Autolamp On. White/Violet is Headlamp Off. Grey (solid) is Parklamp. Yellow/Blue is Headlamp On. Brown (solid) is Fog Lamp...

Door lock wires... Lock is Blue/Green. Unlock is Yellow/Violet. Blue (solid) is power.

Hope this helps... I have a few things I need to go take care of, so if you have any more questions I will get back with you in the morning...

You have to be very careful when adding electronic equipment to these things. I know that I had to buy two conversion modules to get my aftermarket stereo to work because of the data cable instead of wires. keep this in mind when adding electronics to these things.

Got it all working. I had a bad connection. PowerstrokeHD I am not 100% clear on your response about the daytime running lights. My wifes 05 150 has them and I thought I saw the same switch on the 08 Superduties. It's just like my switch only you can turn it to the left of off for an automatic setting. The thing I don't like about my setup is that when I turn my lights on during the day I can't see my information display or radio display. It's real annoying.

On the SD's (and your wifes 150) the actual headlight switch is irrelevant to DRL's. Autolamps and DRL's are separate, so it does not matter if you have them or not. On the pre-08 SD's you had to install a resistor and relay (plug-n-play like the factory) to add DRL's or Ford sold a kit that required you do slice and dice the wires. For '08 this is no longer necessary as DRL function is now built into the SJB (Smart Junction Box) which is a programmable module. What the dealer needs to do is access the programmable parameters of the SJB and change the setting from "disable" to "enable" for the DRL parameter. Many dealers are clueless to this change and some will even say it is not possible, but this is how it is now done. All 08's have this capability...
