thumping sound

thumping sound
Hi I am new to this site.
I have a 01 exped xlt 5.4 awd. 150thos miles.
I bought this truck as a rebuild and rebuild I have.I want do it again.
I have gone thru most all of this truck except trans /tranfer case.
My question is when driving at slow speed and usually when going
up a hill I get a banging or thumping sound or feel almost like a
unaversal joint is bad but they aren't.I cant tell if it's coming from
the frontend or trans/ transfer case. I've had it up on stands but
it want duplicate the problem.
I have been in the rearend and that seems fine.I know this thing
has all kind of sensors and stuff to make the AWD work but I am at
the end of my rope on this one.
Also when sound is being made I can excelarate and it seems to go
away.

More info on this problem.
After reading some other post that suggested disabling the AWD,I removed a
fuse under the hood and drove it a while and the noise went away,now I am not sure what to try next.
