Just wanted to post this here also. I just installed my recon cab lights Sunday, took about 4 hrs. I measured about 100 times and drilled once. Over all it was an easy mod and for all those wanting these and don't want to pay the high installation price, you can do it yourself trust me. I installed mine by myself. Here are a few of pics that I took, more in my gallery. For installation instrucitons do a "cab light" search.
Well done sir. I can imagine what you went through the few minutes leading up to the first drill hole. Takes guts. I put a new trolling motor on my bass boat this summer and I (seriously) spent about 3 evenings just measuring, marking, placing, remeasuring, remarking, etc, until my wife came out and said "JUST DRILL THE DANG HOLES!!!"
I just added the cab clearance lights to my 07 as well (I used the Ford OEM lights and harness that I picked up on Ebay). I also picked up a set of el-cheapo hole punches (sometimes called "Chassis Punches" like the Greenlee-type) from Harbor Freight for $15, lemme tell ya, that punch made the job a heck of a lot easier and a lot less messy than it would have been using a hole saw to make the center hole (7/8")....it made nice clean punched holes. The Harbor Freight ones I'm sure won't last as long as the Greenlee, but heck, they have already paid for themselves, as far as I'm concerned...
To those thinking of doing this mod, don't be afraid!! the results are well worth it!
Looks good! Like previous posters have stated, "I know how you feel!" Took me a few hours of measuring and remeasuring before I finally got the guts to drill.
From the angle and distance it looks like a PBR label in the windshield. lol
did you use motomans spacing? I did mine in feb and it was hard to drill that first hole. but then the other 14 are easy. Now all you need is lights on your mirrors!!!
Great job! They just make an F250 stand out. Check out my gallery for pics of mine at night.
Sure like your building. Would love to have something like that for garage/workshop.
