I just turned 315,000 on my truck. It still has original starter, injectors ,glow plugs ,glow plug relay , u joints, injectors, tie rods and ends. No oil leaks. One tranny rebuild @ 202,000, 1 water pump @ 281,000. 3 sets of Bilsteins , 2 hub assemblys (passenger side). New ball joints @ 182,000. 6 sets of tires.
Is it luck or is it because if it aint broke I don.t fix it. I do wind the pi$$ out of it, never wait for the glow plug light, always use an fuel additive and keep the truck on a tight Preventive maintainance schdule. Aso the build date is my Ex-wifes birthday. Truck has lasted longer than her.
'Course after posting this it it will probably fly all to Hell tomorrow.
Thanks forv all the posts. This is a GREAT site.......otto
I'm of the opinion that a tight maintenance schedule is the most important thing you can do for these trucks. I'm also partial to using a fuel additive.
My truck hasn't been much different than yours. I guess that means I've got a water pump coming up in my near future.
thats great to hear, and congrats on the 100th post, i dont know if thats just a coincedense or what but anyways, i hope my motor lasts that long.
Coincidence.
One thing. I do recomend a deep transmisson pan. I put a Mag Tech on mine. The rebuilder of my tranny was so impressed with it and its benifits he became a dealer. Especialy when he did the 1000,000 mi service on the rebuilt one.
