Axle compatability?
I have a 75 F-250 4x4 with the low pinion DANA 44 front. It is my off-road truck and I'm getting really tired of getting drivelines built. I want to know if the steering knuckles and all could be swapped over to the high pinion 44 found in the F-150 coil over front trucks. This way I could keep my wheels and hub's and not take out drivelines on rocks anymore. I have the odd ball 44 that they have to custom make all axle's shafts for. Thank you for any help.

Swap?
Any swap is possible with enough work. The swap you are contemplating would be a bunch of work. You would have to fab up mounts for the springs on the top of the axle. Depending on how the center section is centered you may not have enough space on the driver's side. I do know that they are spaced differently than the f250 axles. I know this because I swapped f350 knuckles onto my f100 axle. It was a drum brake axle, but open knuckle. Any how, long story short. I had to shorten one of the axle shafts by a 1/4". But I do not remember which one (9yrs ago). I think it would be way easier to find the right axle. The '78 '79 axles are high pinion. There has to be quite a few of those around. Just be patient and wait out the search for the correct one. Ford parts seem to be like rabbits, You have one and the population is under control. You get two and the parts seem to multiply over night. Next thing you know, you wish you had more space.....
You could look for a later model D60 to swap into it. But you would have to make custom frame mounts for it. All of that has been covered here before.
