Hi-flow Cats?

I've got dual pipes with a Super 44 series muffler and 4x24 tips on my 04 F150. How many cats come stock on that truck? I've heard that the best, cheap hi-flow cat is made by thunderbolt. Where do you buy Thunderbolts from? Also, what would be the best cat setup for loudness, not so much worried about performance. Thanks alot for any help.

I noticed to get your exhaust louder on a lot of the newer ford stuff u need to use hi flow cats. I put loud exhaust on my '96 bronco and my '05 stang and they weren't all that loud until I put hi flow cats on them. I used Bassani cats they make universal ones.

Bassani's stuff is more expensive then most. if you want retarded loud go with a full bassani system my buddy has a 03 lightning with bassani headers, cats x pipe and cat back the thing is LOUD... he was playing around with a harley with straight pipes I was sitting in the pass side of the truck and all i could hear was the exhaust and the Supercharger. Beautiful... sound but not quiet for everyday driving. anyways i could see the bike but couldnt hear it and buddy was hauling on her

Ok so if I didnt want to replace all of them only cut out the rear two (Ive heard they dont really serve a purpose but to dampen the sound) that will still pass emissions and don't screw up the o2 sensors right? What about gas mileage, will those back two being gone affect that alot?

I have a 06 F150 5.4 and i was under mine and i see only 2-cats.... I have a 3" flowmaster from the cats back... edge performance box K&N air intake system. throttle body riser... with all these mods i can see a difference... i aslo turn 35 inch tires... I did disconnect my rear o2 sencors and i seemed to notice a difference.. Maybe mind over matter... but my ck engin light did come on.. So i checked the codes through the edge box and it was my 02 sensors so i hooked them back up and cleared the codes and no more problems... But i want more power... i pull a 6000lb camper.... (toy Hauler) go here to see my toys East Coast ATV Snorkels

You will not gain any REAL power by messing around with the stock units (nothing you will be able to discern). They flow pretty darn well these days. If you really want some performance gain... spend your money elsewhere

04/05 trucks have 4 cats

06+ trucks have 2 cats

aftermarket cats won't do anything for you when stock...I on the otherhand might gain from high flow cats.

don't waste your money.

I might also remind those who haven't read my cat threads before...messing with your cats can be illegal EVEN if you replace them with aftermarkets.... It all has to do with the age of your truck and mileage.....don't wanna listen to me....check with the epa U.S. Environmental Protection Agency

the fines can be as much as 25,000 dollars per offense
