99 coil pack help

99 coil pack help
Got a 1999 f150 5.4 and it seems to be running on 7 cyclinders. Last time it was a bad coil and cost about $350 to fix. Now its doing it again (different coil i assume) How hard is it to fix on my own? I see the part is only $50 or so. What kind of time will I need. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Even the name of a good mechanic in the Minneapolis Mn area would help.....

Get a code before you start wasteing money by throwing parts at it.

The easiest way is to have the CEL on, then get the code pulled for which cylinder is misfiring. Once you know that take the COP off that cylinder and put it on one of the front cylinders that is not misfiring. Wait for the CEL to come on again and make sure the misfire followed the suspect COP. They simply come out with a bolt and just snap on to the plug, the hardest part may be getting to the COP if it is one of the rears, and it usually is-#3 and #4 are the most prone to go bad.
Also you could get a whole set of 8 off ebay for under $150 and just replace them all and have some extra's if the new ones ever go bad.
