On this '67 I bought, the guy was very honest about everything. He said it has a 390, but I see the stamped "352" on the front left of the block. Since the engines are in the same family, could it be a 390? I need to get a hold of him and find out if some work was done to the original 352 to make it a 390.
1965/67 F100/350 = the only V8 installed was the 352. VIN engine code is the 4th digit = Y = 1967 352 2V.
The 360/390 were introduced in 1968, used thru 1976.
Stroke: 352 = 3.50" / 390 = 3.78"
All FE engines look identical, and most sellers are klewless on what engine came in what year truck, most have never heard of 352's (or 360's), so......
On sale day 352's (and 360's) magically become 390's.
Bore a 352 out to .060, install the 390's crank, pistons and rods...VOILA! You now have a 390.
