Short Bed Floor Source?

I need a floor for my 75 supercab shortbed. All I can find in the replacement catalogs is a long bed floor. Can the long bed floor be cut and used in the shortbed or are all of the mounts/braces in the wrong location?

It may work . The long bed is longer in front of the rear wheels obviously, but the rear section behind the rear wheels is longer than the shortbed.you might have to cut the patch panel at the top and the bottom. I can measure my longbed and my shortbed tommorrow and see if the bolt patterns would be of equal distance.

if ya go to a earlier bed from the 80's there's a good chance to find a rust free floor, i am not sure on what years will work, but i have seen it done on a 79 swb truck, and it looked good, and it was still ford steel and not import, ya need thick strong steel for a bed floor and the import stuff can pass for body panels but a floor has to be thick gauge. and i am sure the 80's floor grate pattern is darn close to the dentside box floor, so it seems simple, good luck with your project and i am sure someone else will add some info.

It's Identical. So is the front section. The Inner bedsides, and wells will work as well, however the taillamp pillers will need to be swapped or modified.

You can even put 1973-1979 outer bedsides on a 1980-1996 bed, with little modification. (IE: Taillamp Pillars etc...)

Would be a lot simpler to remove the bedsides and weld them on a donor bed than just replacing the floor. IMO.

Hope this helps.

Well the rust damage to the bed floor is limited to the corrugated section of flooring, so it 'looks' easier to just swap out the center section of the bed.

Just to clarify are you saying the center section from a 80-96 bed is identical to my 75?

Another option I've been thinking about is a stepside bed on the supercab. Anyone ever seen photos of something like this?

Yes it is. Infact it's not uncommon to see 80's beds on these trucks, with the incorrect bedsides.

As for a flareside bed, that is also a viable option, and would be really cool in my opinion.

I found it.

the name of the guy on the forum is eddieburnsii. it's a brown supercab with a black flareside bed on it. it has the big-rig style mirrors on it (I don't know if those are the westcoaster's or not). it appears to be a 78 or 79.
