HI,
I was wondering how easy it would be to put a 99 to 2006 inst. cluster in a 1993 f-250 diesel. There was a bronco on e-bay that they converted to diesel and had the newer inst. cluster in there. the dash and the plastic still looked like the original set up and it looked pretty neat. Has anybody done this yet.
Thanks
No, you need a 92-93 cluster for that vehicle, nothing else will work right. If you put a cluster from another year in there you could have problems rangeing from instruments that don't work right to a battery that won't charge.
Anyone know if there's a year conversion list hidden in a forum topic around here somewhere or is it mostly just ask for someone who's dealt with it before to jump in?
It might work.
If you were to leave the 2 important items in place, like the speedometer so the computer would get signals (under the dash somewhere) and something in place so it could charge.
Then your next issue would be finding the proper inputs for the newer gauges, and of course seeing if they will fit there...
The charge part is just a pin wire change. Changing to the wrong year cluster can block (open the wire) from the Ignition Switch through the charge bulb with its burn out resister in to the wire going to the charge off/on point of the alternator.
