opinion

ok i have an 84 f-150 with a 300 strait 6 in it and the power stering pump is bad on it and the bracket of it that connects into the side of the block has the bolt snaped off in it and my pump keeps moving so my belt is just sceeling like crazy now should i take out the engin and drill it out or should i just buy my neigborers 78 150 for $400 and put the 400 engin in it or shold i just sell my truck and get another 78 for cheap and put them together. dections dections what do u think?

Here's the thing there. If you want anything out of your truck you'll likely need to pull the broken bolt and fix the bracket at the least. The other thing is you know what you've fixed on your truck and what does and doesn't work and what seems like it may need fixed soon. The biggest thing I hate about getting a new vehicle is not knowing what could break next from not knowing the ride and sounds.

I don't drive alot so my choice would be to go with the manual steering...that's what Grandpa drove.

Take the radiator and grille off and drill it out.

Easier than pulling the motor me thinks.

I agree with Stosh to get to it without removing the engine.

I would also jump on that '78 for $400 just to have one.

I would not scrap a whole truck out because of one broken bolt in the engine. The critical part of the whole repair is getting a small drill bit, and getting a hole started in the center of the broken bolt in the block.
