Fuel Pump RnR

Today I found out just because some places say they are diesel specialists doesn't mean they are.

I was wanting to know if a shop ever heard of the company Airtex that makes the mechanical fuel pump and Bosch that Advance auto sells. The just said the Ford parts dept is closed which I told them yeah I know called them earlier. So then I was wanting to know if this shop knew what type of fuel hose I needed and what the difference was from fuel injection hose compared to diesel rubber fuel line hose. They didn't have a clue and neither did the one Ford parts dept I did find today except for the fuel lines have different pressures.

I finally asked a NAPA store and said diesel fuel lines are made from silicone which the blue ones on our trucks are made from. Here in Virginia they wanted 16 bucks for one and 12 something for another blue silicone hose at the dealership.

Isn't there any place else that sells the fuel lines we need besides a International parts or service place since theres none around here that I'm aware of.

A lot to read I know but I did get a Carter fuel pump from NAPA but only comes with a one yr warranty.

Any help in knowing what type of fuel hose we can use and where to get it is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

73cntry: Many of us find that it's just a whole lot easier to bit the bullet and buy the three (3) hose kit from the Stealership. Two of the hoses ar one length and the third is another and they are already cut to size and ready to go. jmho.

It doesn't matter where you buy the pump (checker, pep boys, autozone, advance, etc) or what it says on the box ( Ford, IH, NAPA, or Airtex) they are all the same and all made by Carter. Just shop for price.

You don't need to buy the high dollar fuel line from the dealer. Just buy high pressure fuel injection hose from your local parts place. Just make sure it meets SAE J30R9 specs. J30R9 is rated for both the temp and pressure and is compatible with diesel and biodiesel.

Thank you BlueMule, for the extra help and hopefully the people at the auto parts store will know about the SAE specs. I was told yesterday though the reason for the hoses being made of silicone instead of rubber like the fuel injection line is the diesel fuel will eventually deteriorate the rubber. The parts guy never said how fast this would happen though.

Went to Goodyears web site and they also have the SAE J30R9 hose that is recommended for max 100psi working pressure 900 burst psi plus 275 deg F heat with an intermittent temp of 302 def F so that sounds like a plan to me.
Advance Auto should carry them as well at least that's what Advances' web site said!!!!!!!!
Thanks for all the help and I managed to get a 1 1/4" socket on the Banjo bolt to get it out today so that was Sweet just enough to break it loose. Did the rest by hand!!!!!!!!!
