Just had an extra fuel tank/tool box put in the bed of my '08 F250. The shop that sold it to me said that I could only transfer fuel while the truck is shut down because the additional fuel coming into the tank while underway would mess with the fuel computer and shut down the engine.
Has anyone had this happen or is this guy blowing smoke?
I have read where other people have had the computer go crazy when adding fuel while the truck is running. The computer is trying to figure out mileage but the fuel level is not dropping while the mileage is adding up. Seems reasonable to me. Clear as mud.

Mileage is not calculated based on the fuel level in the tank. It is calculated on the flow going to the engine. I have left my truck running many times while fueling and never seen anything out of the ordinary. The miles to empty is basically just a guage that reads in miles rather than volume and it will go up or down with the fuel level and has no problem with fuel rising while the truck is running.
