Wink 08 tailights

Hi,

I was filling my 02 Stroker up at the truck stop the other day, & a 08 pulled upn at the pump next to me. A brainstorm hit, but I don't kinow if it will work, or if any body posted this before me as I have not been online in a while. I apologize if it's been done. To make a long story short, I am curious if a set of 08 taillight will fit in an 02? are they mounted the same way? Or is a little custom work needed? I just want to make my truck look a little different.

I think that the harness going to each tail light is different, but the mounting is the same. I remember someone on here doing it..........

The wire harness is different but I think Dfuser sells an adapter of some sort. They do fit the same though.

I believe they stick out a tad further also. I think this was due to the new tailgate.

The tailgate will fit but you have to get one of the hinge brackets also. There is a couple of threads on this and I believe someone has some pics of the new tailgate on their older trucks. Good luck if you get one.

This is my 99. I cut the bucket off of the drivers side of my old tailgate and welded it on the new one. It seemed the quickest way to me at the time. I wish I would have bought the other hinge mount though.

The only reason I could afford it is because an idiot ran into the back of me. I came out ahead because I put a few hundred in my pocket and got a new tailgate and bumper.

i have done both and it is easy

i have the 08 tail gate on my 99 and looks great and functions great
the 08 gate has a torsion bar in it that makes the gate easy to lower and raise, you can do it one handed. fits perfect and all you need is the driver side bed hinge along with the 08 tail gate. the torsion bar locks into the passenger side hinge but everything bolts up fine, the hinge part was $12 at ford

the tail lights fit perfect as well, they stick out a little but that is the design as it looks similar on the 08 trucks. it allows you to see the light in our rear view mirror to make sure the lights are working, and you can do it splicing only a few wires
