I love my truck and my family and friends don't understand at all. Searched for almost a year to find a 67 F250, the one I found had 54K miles on it and is a camper special. When I got it it had sat for almost 15 years. Drove it home and it felt dangerous at 50 MPH with that manual steering, rusty brakes and old worn out bias ply 16.5 split rim tires and wheels. New tires and brakes took me to about 65 MPH before it felt dangerous. Then a sway bar helped me to cruse at 70 comfortably. Now 6 years later after putting all my overtime wages in it, a little hear, a little there, will do 90 comfortably. Just got the power steering and front disc brakes conversion done and man-o-man what a machine! Massive acceleration, quick steering, excellent brakes, all that and I'm finding myself whipping around in traffic, blowing around slow pokes, and everyone comes over to my truck in a parking lot and just oogles at it. I love my truck! Only you guys seem to appreciate a bump side these days, my family thinks I should be committed because I've spent more on it than I could of bought a new one for. But a new on just ain't the same.
I had gasps and shudders when I told my friends about my $5000 engine swap cost.....they asked "Why put that much into your car?" I would simply ask, "What does a year's worth of Car Payments and Full coverage cost you?......That's what I thought...."
