Guess it is winter I had to put on the winter front on my International semi. I was at Estevan today and when I got up to highway speed the temp came down to 120, luckily I had the winter front in the cab or it woulda been a cold long ride.
Also I beat my fastest speed record today in the QuApelle valley man that was a ride. (It does not govern out when a guy is in neutral)
Haha tell me ya werent coasting in neutral in the valley!
I went all through last year without a winter front on my pickup trucks, as for the semi's they seem to need them a little sooner, ive noticed that too.
coasting down the valley instead of cutting my speed down to 110-115 to prevent over reving I kinda decided just to shove the semi into neutral, the speedometer went up to 140 needle went alittle beyound the end.
'Mexican overdrive' - be very careful! I had two scary scenarios with it - once I forgot the jake on and stalled the engine and lost power steering. The other was on a long hill in the Fraser Canyon in BC with a set of A-trains. I am sure I was going 120 or 130 mph and scared shootless!!!! I popped 'er out of gear and kind of underestimated the lenght of the hill - no exhibition or carnival ride will touch that feeling!
I was thinking of putting my winter front on the PSD the other day. It's about that time. I leave mine on well into the spring as well. Just runs better when she's good and warm.
I have never had a problem with my diesel pickup yet. Seems to keep everything nice and warm, but I do have bug screen covers in the front, and they may help somewhat.
