What dose it take to get ford to buy a truck back? My 04 250 CC 6.0 has been in the shop going on a month for a bad PCM. Ford customer service rep called today left a voice mail said part is on back order maybe 2 MORE weeks before they get the part!! Then when they get the part they still have no idea what caused it. This is second PCM in 2 months.
I am running out of patience and was just wondering if anybody knows fords protocal on an issue like this.
I think it's a little late to ask Ford to buy back a 2004. Usually that happens the first year of ownership if they've made repeated attempts to fix the same problem unsucessfully. If you're unhappy with your service dept try another dealer, you might have better luck.
I have only owned the truck a couple months it has 30,000 miles on it. This is the second dealership to work on it. The first dealer found a PCM from another dealer was only down 2 weeks. They said maybe just a bad PCM sent me on my way. 2000 miles later exact same thing diffrent dealer and they said they have checked every thing they know. There is a problem some where, ford is suppose to be sending an engineer to take a look after they get the part in. Basically in the last 2 months my truck has been on the road 2 weeks !!!
Check you state's Lemon Laws, this is what Ford will use as a guideline in even considering a Buyback. Trust me it isn't easy. IF you are passed any of the guidelines of your states Lemon laws (age or mileage) you will be wasting your time.
I just went thru this with my 05 F-150, 30+ warranty visits (2 different dealerships) and 2 new engines with less than 47K miles on it and Ford won't do anything. Lousiest customer service I have ever dealt with, false promises, stall tactics, lack of communication for months at a time etc. Point blank told me they were going to use my states guidelines for lemon vehicles and would not do a buy back no matter what. They played so many games with at least 6 different people calling me over the last 6 months and got me so upset that I literally ended up going to the emergency room with chest pains.
In NC if you don't document an issue prior to 24K miles you don't have a case. My mistake was verbally complaining of the issue and not making sure the dealer documented it prior to 24K miles, won't happen again.
While I will continue to own Ford trucks (love my F-350) I will never again buy a new Ford anything, used possibly, but never will I put money directly in their pockets by buying new from them. I am calling Ford credit next week and telling them to come pick up my F-150, not gonna pay any more payments on a truck so messed up... one way or another "Ford" is getting that lemon truck back. Thank goodness I paid cash for my F-350!
Good luck and I hope your situation turns out better than mine.
FYI, in reality I think you may have harness chaffing issues causing shorts. It is my understanding this is very common, especially with some 03/04 6.0s
Thanks, thats what I needed to know. I've talked with two diffrent reps, 1st lady seem like she might actually help but she had to pass it off to some one higher up to make a descission on what they could do. Right now I'm just trying to get a truck to drive they offered a focus (not a lot of help when you farm ). The 2nd rep was a real *** I could tell I was not going to get anything out of him. I've owned 5 ford trucks and still have 3 on my farm now, but this might be the last one!

Too funny, they definitely use the "Good Cop, Bad Cop" a lot.
The local dealer gave me a Ford Taurus when it was in the shop for 32 days straight on ONE of the dozens of visits.

Good luck getting credit on anything with the post crash market and a repo on your credit.
Ford credit will get you big time indirectly in the end.
I will make a side bet with you. I bet my credit will rebound before Ford does... IF they are still in business :-)
However, lets please not drag the stock market crap into this Forum. A lot of people probably need a santuary from all that crap and this Forum is one such place.
