So the c6 in my 78 f250 4x4 went out and since i hate automatics im going to put a 4 speed in my truck. Now my question is that my truck has a 400 c6 and 205, and there is another truck i want to get that is a 76 if i remember right and has a 460 np435 and divorced 205 and i was wondering if it would be almost a direct swap or if there is there anything special that would have to be done.
The problems you will encounter is in the transmission / transfer case configuratoion.
If someone swaped in a 460 into that 76 truck,, then the belhousing problem is solved, but the tailshaft on the 435 for the divorced case equiped truck and the 78 are different.
This will require a complete disassembly of the transmission and replacement of the ouut shaft to accomodate the adapter and direct mount transfer case.
Be prepared for quite a bitof work. This will also require a complete pedal assembly change since the pedals are different in size. Just hanging a pedal for the clutch can be done, but not recommended. Far too easy to push the clutch and brake pedals at the same time.
well what i was planning on doing is putting the 460 trans transfer case and drive shafts, and maybe axles of this 76 and putting into my truck. so that i will have the steering column pedal assembly brackets for the drive train, crossmembers, everything to put this drivetrain into my truck.
