I have a 69 f-260. I have a surge that I cant figger out. The lights surge and I have all new parts in the system. Starter, regulator, altenator, battery, cables. I can hear the belt squeal(squeak with the added load) in time with the surge. The surge goes away with throttle down the road. I have checked grounds so what am I missing????
maybe your belt is loose? its happened to me before, i thought i had it tight but it has to be really freakin tight, like put a pry bar against it while your tightening it. if you touch the belt with your finger you should only get it to flex a tiny bit.
2 things you can do. First install "HEADLIGHT RELAYS" you are only getting around 10 volts to your headlights Do a search for the subject,if you dont find anything,PM me and I will walk you through it(easy stuff).
Second is install a 3G alternator from a 92-95 Taurus, again PM me and I will give you details.(more easy stuff)
With the relays you will get "12" volts to the headlights and the new alternator you wont have the "surging". MOST externally regulated alternators have low amperage output at idle, but the 3G is NOT that way. Good Luck

i used to have electrical surging pretty bad but i replaced my voltage regulator for 15 bucks and that cured the problem, but if u said u already did that then im lost.
