There is only 3 or 4 bolts across the top the bottom is just fitted in place. Undo the top bolts along with the filler neck, sending unit wire and fuel line, tilt the top forward and lift it out. Try to get all the fuel out before removing if possible. Its also a good idea to tape up the fill opening before removing.
just another added thought, if you are going to leave the seat in it's much easier to get out with the help of a friend as you will need to pull it staight up for a ways before you can extract it. Dutch
It may take a little prying. I took mine out a couple of weeks ago. First time it has every been out. I had to pry the top forword gently and back and forth a few time to get it to loosen up
i just took mine out last week, it's probably just wedged like slick said. a rubber mallet would loosen it up probably. it'll slide side to side so if you hit it sideways it might break it loose.
