Steering Column?

Can a steering column from a 1987-1991 work on my 1985? Are there any differences? Can it be made to work? See Id like to update my steering wheel to that model, and I might as well do it all if its possible.

I am pretty sure the ignition switch is different, but that may just swap right over to the newer column(the electrical part). You may have horn problems too, if you have cruise or do not have cruise, and the new column doesn't have, or does have cruise.

Well I am having horn problems since I put in a 1981 steering column in my truck, everything else works, cept that. I figure since I have access to a 88 column I would switch and hope it works. My truck originally had cruise but I did away with that.
Thaks Dave for the reply. Maybe I could get more information if maybe some one may have attempted this before. OR I could go look at the columns together and see the differences.

It will work, I put in a column from a 90 into my 86 the only difference is the bracket that bolts to the dash is different on the 87-91, but the 80-86 bracket will bolt on the newer column.
