What kind of gauges are you installing? I didn't disconnect the batteries when I installed mine.

No you don't have to disconnect the batteries or detune it. The gauges should be hooked up to an ignition switched power source so if the key is off, no power should be flowing. They also do not read anything from the computer so no need to detune it.
