Need help on finding paint.

Hello everyone.

I have a 1996 F-250. The truck is made in Canada and the paint code is PC. When I did a search I came out with the color name "Reef Blue". I need to fix a rust spot that formed under the drivers side door. I went to my local AutoZone to get a small spray can of the paint. When I looked through the books for the codes I couldn't paint PC listed. But one online sites they sell the paint and have the code listed as reef blue. Heres a picture of my truck.

Crappy picture (cell phone)

I was looking around and found a truck that looks identical to mine.

Pictures of it can be found at this photo album '97 F350 Powerstroke *** For Sale *** pictures from friends & fun photos on webshots

Now here's what confuses me. If you look in his album he has a picture of the door tag. The truck is made in America with the paint code NB. "Dark Tourmaline Metallic Clearcoat NB/M6797"

Is this color the same or not? The trucks are different years and made in different counties. But are the colors the same? I can't find my code listed in Autozones books, but NB is. How huge of a difference in color can there be? The area I want to grind/prime/repaint isnt visable really. (bottom of the door on the inside.)

If anyone has any information. I looked up touchup paints on PaintScratch Touch-Up Paint (rs), Spray Cans, Spray Paint, Paint Pens, Car Paint, Automotive Paint and they list both PC and NB with a sample and PC is alot lighter....

Thanks

It's nearly impossible to match two colors in different pictures. I'd bet they are different colors. Like you said though, since it's in a low visibility area (being the driver's side, you'll probably be the only one who sees it I bet) I wouldn't be too concerned about it. For the lower part of the inside of a door, I'd say it's alot better than a rust patch. If you really want the right color, you'd have to take it to a local body shop and get them to match and mix up the color for you.

Ya its not a noticeable area. You cant see it. Only when the door is open and your eye level with the bottom of it.
The truck with NB color does look darker then mine. And one that color website the sample is also darker then PC.
I did a search for reef blue on google and came up with this site Mustang Coupes & Notchs And that's the same shade as my truck it seems. Im just stumped that I couldn't even find the code in Autozone. And one site said PC was a color for the ford tempo only... mehhh.

I just find it strange that I couldn't find it in one of those paint code lookup books at autozone. Charging my camera. Gonna take some pics laters.

Ok I took some pics of what I'm dealing with.

Here's one of the color.

And here's one of the cancer killing it (after some grinding). I'd really hate to put a patch in. I hope I can stop it this way for some time. The hard part is the lower lip.

I would go to a local paint store (real paint not Autozone) and ask for a pint of enamel in your color code. You can mix that with a little reducer and spray it through one of those little aerosol sprayers. It will match alot better and be more durable than a spray can. If you are having trouble with the color you can have them scan the color too. PC does come up as 1991-1996 Ford Reef Blue #4428 on a PPG computer, so it shouldn't be a problem.
