Hows it going everyone?? I used to get onto the forum for my 49 f-1 that i was working on. but here is the scoop. i bought an 89 f-150 2 wheel drive automatic with the 5.0 in it, for 350 bucks. my fiancee got into an accident and so i went out and got a few parts to make it run better, but instead made it run worse. i replaced the vavle cover gaskets and now the tranny wont go into third gear. it goes good through the first 2, actually it goes better into second then it did before, but when it starts to go into third, all it does is disengages second and does not go into third. it is frustrating, cause i stayed up, after working all night, and tried to get it running better. but it is just a bigger problem now. also, it was missing a wiper switch and the connector. i got a switch from the part store but i need to know where i can find a display or diagram on what wires go to what pins on the switch. i tried to play with it alittle but only got the pump to work properly. but i am off. time to listen to the adjuster for her car. thanks, swanie
i do not know what tranny it has right off hand. havent looked that much into it, to be honest with you. my old man thinks i got a vacuum leak somewhere. but i dont know cause everything is intact where i was working. im gonna tear into it this weekend and hopefully find a solution to it.
thanks for that picture of the switch. it makes my life so much easier since i bought it off of a _________ ( fill in your own blank). i prolly would of figured it out sooner or later, but got ticked off and only got the highs to work. and i think that is wrong also.
but thanks again guys, you have come to my rescue.
I don't think a vacuum leak should cause the trans problem on the newer trans? maybe the older early 80s c-4/c-6 that had the vacuum solenoid /modulator valves?most the new ones are electric or cable actuated !
